Swirly wraparound skirt in colour-blocked Khesh handloom cotton in cheerful reds and yellows. Khesh is the ‘3R’ fabric - reduce, recycle, reuse. The weaver keeps a pile of old sarees torn into strips by her side and uses them at varying intervals in the weft, to create patterns.
This product has been specially curated by BEAD, a social enterprise whose mission is to create opportunities for a low-wage earner to supplement family income and improve her living standards. Most of the woven and/or printed materials used to make these products are drawn from the vast textile heritage of India.
This skirt is approximately 38/39 inches (97 cm.) long and fits hip sizes up to 42 inches (107 cm.)
Fabrics used are handloom cotton.
Color hues may slightly vary from that which appears in the image.
The imperfections in the weave or print, spots of dye or occasional patch of colour, are all features of handloom weaves, hand-prints and the craftsmanship involved in the production of this fabric.
• Natural dyes tend to run colour. Please follow these steps to minimise colour bleed.
• First, soak the skirt for 5 minutes in half bucket of cold water + 2 teaspoons of common salt. Rinse and dry in shade.
• For subsequent washes, use mild soap, do not soak, rinse thoroughly and dry inside out in shade.
• Sunlight will cause the garment to fade. Hand wash is preferable; machine wash in cold water with similar colours only.
