Multi colour handwoven Sambalpuri "Tapoi" cotton saree from the weavers of Sambalpur, Odisha. The pattern for this saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of "poetry on the loom". This saree is designed with contemporary floral motifs woven inside squares on the body. Dobby rudraksha design are woven on the border of the saree. Unique boat motifs are woven as a stripe adjacent to the lower saree border and the saree pallu. The saree has a crisp texture and feel to hand as starched yarns are used during weaving.
