Mehendi green and black handwoven Sambalpuri "Border Sakta" cotton saree from the weavers of Sambalpur, Odisha. The pattern for this saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of "poetry on the loom". This saree is woven with plain body and temple design near the borders and floral designs on pallu. The stripe of this saree Border Sakta highlights the saree edges with the traditional sakta or bichitrapuri design. The saree gives little crispy feel to hand as starch is applied to yarns during weaving.
