Description:

Blue and deep maroon colour handwoven Sambalpuri cotton saree from the weavers of Sambalpur, Odisha. The pattern for this saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of "poetry on the loom". The saree body is woven with ikat mythological dancer motifs inspired by traditional temple architechture. Rudraksha dobby motifs are woven on the border of the saree. Traditional dancing girls and tribal designs on the pallu add to the beauty of this handloom saree. The saree gives little crispy feel to hand as starch is applied to yarns during weaving.
