A traditional handwoven cotton saree was woven by the weavers of the town of Nuapatna in Odisha. The town of Nuapatna is famous for its handwoven traditional mercerised cotton sarees and the tie-dye technique to create motifs on the saree is it’s speciality. Rust and black colour yarns used to weave this saree. Tribal ikat motifs woven on the body with warpwise ikat motifs and traditional rudraksha motifs woven on the border by dobby shedding device. Tribal ikat motifs have been woven on the pallu with multiple horizontal stripes.
