This traditional handwoven mercerised cotton saree was woven by the weavers of the town of Nuapatna in Odisha. The town of Nuapatna is famous for its handwoven traditional mercerised cotton sarees and the tie-dye technique followed to create motifs on the saree is the speciality. This saree is designed in peru and maroon colour combination. Ikat checks and peacock motifs woven on the body with traditional rudraksha motifs woven on the border by dobby shedding device. Ikat flower motifs have been woven on the pallu as multiple horizontal stripes.
