Yellow and maroon striped handwoven Nuapatna cotton ikat saree from the weavers of Sambalpur, Odisha. The pattern for this saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of "poetry on the loom". This saree is woven with elaborate temple design at the borders and flower motifs at the center of the body highlighted as yellow and maroon stripes. Dobby rudraksha design are woven on the border and striped floral designs on saree pallu.
