Yellow, maroon and black colour combinations handwoven Sambalpuri cotton saree from the weavers of Sambalpur, Odisha. The pattern for this saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of "poetry on the loom". This saree is woven with striped pattern body highlighting elephant motifs. Dobby star motifs with double ikat sapta design are woven on border of the saree. The floral motifs on pallu add to the beauty of this handloom saree. The saree gives little crispy feel to hand as starch is applied to yarns during weaving.
