Brown and maroon handwoven Sambalpuri "Madhu Sakta" cotton saree from the weavers of Sambalpur, Odisha. The pattern for this saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of "poetry on the loom". This saree is woven with elephant motifs on the body and maroon pallu of the saree. Dobby rudraksha pattern stripe is woven on the saree borders. The saree has a crisp texture and feel to hand as starched yarns are used during weaving.
