A traditional handwoven cotton saree was woven by the weavers of the town of Nuapatna in Odisha. The town of Nuapatna is famous for its handwoven traditional mercerised cotton sarees and the tie-dye technique to create motifs on the saree is it’s speciality. Arsenic black and maroon colour yarns used to weave this saree. Ikat motifs woven on the body with traditional ikat temple and rudraksha motifs woven on the border by dobby shedding device. Ikat motifs have been woven on the pallu with multiple horizontal stripes.
