Dark navy blue and black handwoven sambalpuri cotton ikat saree from the weavers of Bargarh, Odisha. The pattern on the saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of ""poetry on the loom"". This saree has plain blue body woven with temple design for the borders. Flower motifs are woven as stripes on a black base for the pallu.
