Jugaad is a social enterprise focused on pursuing the welfare of people and the planet at large. Started in 2005 in New Delhi, it is currently working with 60-70 village women and youth in Faridabad with an aim to develop vocational skills through skill training and encourage entrepreneurial skills to make marginalized young adults and women self-reliant. It also promotes sustainable enterprises, aimed at improving the lifestyle of disadvantaged groups and populations. The profits earned are reinvested to launch projects with a high social impact. Following the mantra of recycle, up-cycle and reuse, Jugaad uses creativity and ingenuity to transform rags, cloth cuttings, discarded cd’s, news and waste paper, jute bags, plastic rice bags, old tyres into beautiful saleable products. It produces a range of handcrafted eco-friendly products including newspaper and cloth jute bags, stationery, cloth and paper jewellery, clothes and home decoration items.
