Mythology centric design motifs are what defines an authentic baluchari sari. Depicting iconic scenes from the epic stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata, each of these sarees is skillfully woven by the weavers of Bankura cluster at Madhabganj Baidyapara, West Bengal.
This particular sari is a pictorial representation of Arjuna and Karna at the battle field of Mahabhratha, when Karna's chariot wheel gets trapped in the mud as a result of the curse he had received earlier from goddess Earth. Th story reads that at the crucial moment, he is unable to recollect the incantations to invoke Brahmastra, which was a result of his guru Parashurama's curse.
Weaver Subhas Mandal has skillfully handwoven this sari using Bishnupur pure mulberry silk yarn.
