Heeya

Heeya is a social enterprise founded by Jonali Saikia Khasnabish in 2012 to create a meaningful livelihood for women with traditional skills. The focus is on providing sustainable livelihood through sustainable fashion and lifestyle products/services by creating strong markets for the North East region through a strong network of Cooperative groups and NGO’s. It is currently working with 100 women artisans with traditional skills to empower them financially, economically, and socially. The organisation is also working towards the revival of rare craft traditions that are on the verge of extinction through design intervention using traditional motifs, colours, and patterns reinventing them in the global context. Apart from promoting traditional art and culture, Heeya also provides training through workshops in skill development and entrepreneurship. As a brand of clothing, Heeya is committed to showcasing the textiles of the North East in handwoven saris, accessories and fabrics that reflect the rich handloom heritage of the region creating new markets through a series of structured intervention.
