Aarohana

Aarohana Eco-Social Developments is brainchild of Nandan Bhat & Amita Deshpande, Co-founder and Director of Aarohana. Founded in 2013, its endeavour is to upcycling waste to conserve the environment, enable rural livelihood and create awareness. Aarohana means ascending scale of music in Sanskrit and represents the ascent or rise in the field of socio-economic development. At Aarohana, single use and multi-layered plastics are upcycled, handwoven into threads by tribals on charkha and handwoven into fabric and converted into utility handbags, office stationery, home décor and fashion accessories. The focus is on every process being manual to create rural artisans sustainable livelihood.
