Business Overview

Deoguling Tibetan Settlement Tattihalli, Mundgod Taluk of North Kanara District was established in the year 1966. It si about 32 miles from Hubli, the nearest railway station. The Government of Karnataka has given 4054 acres of land for agriculture and settlement purposes. Approximately 2.5 to 3 acres of land was distributed to each family under the government of India Rehabilitation scheme, apart from using some portion of land for monastery, housing and administration. The agriculture has become the main occupation and the source of livelihood for the Tibetans. After taking asylum in India, Tibetan Government in Exile organised Agricultural Credit Co-operation Societies in Tibetan refugee settlement, to uplift the economic and social conditions of Tibetans. This is how the Tibetans Co-operative Society Ltd, Mundgod was registered. The society undertake schemes and projects in the interest of socio-economic development of its members and to encourage its member for saving by providing banking services.

Objectives

1. To inculcate savings among members.

2. To encourage the members to be self-sufficient and also encourage the members to deposit surplus money with the society.

3. To provide short term and medium term loans to the members.

4. To encourage training program on agricultural development and propagate novel agricultural practices.

5. To encourage and educate members about benefits of organic and natural farming, so as to enable the members to adapt organic and natural farming gradually.

6. To assist members to procure domestic requirements and to undertake consumer activities.
