Business Overview

Tenzingang settlement is situated in sub-Himalayan range in West Kemang district of Arunachal Pradesh in India. The total population of the settlement is around 875, and agriculture is the main occupation. Foreigners are required to get a Special Inner Line permit to visit Tenzingang due to it been a restricted area. Agriculture and Horticulture are the main source of livelihood for the settlement people with traditional way of farming blended with modernized technique but free from any use of chemicals. The cultivation of the crops is mainly dominated by paddy, millet, barley, vegetables. But in these days farmers have diverted their crops and started cultivating apple and kiwi as cash crops. Apple and kiwi production is very famous in the region by its quality. The society began its operation by starting a consumer store which was tremendously felt necessary as there was no shops in the village at the time. Later the society established a handicraft center for weaving. In such way, the society started expanding its business activities one by one.

Objectives

1. To purchase goods on wholesale rates, and to sell to the members at reasonable prices, all articles of consumption manufactured either by itself or in combination with other voluntary organisation who are helping the Tibetan refugees.

2. To arrange self help, thrift and co-operation among members.

3. To repair and provide other services related to all articles sold by the society to its members.

4. To raise funds to conduct the businesses of the society.

5. To purchase and sell agricultural produces of the members at a reasonable rate.

6. To supply inputs like fertilizers, insecticide and pesticides, seeds consumer durables, raw materials for handicrafts, spare for machinery ans all other requirements for the benefits of members.
