Business Overview

With the establishment of Tibetan settlements, co-operative societies were simultaneously started in their respective settlements with the aim to attain the social and economic betterment of Tibetan settler. Co-operative societies function to support their members in agricultural activities like supplying of Agri inputs, procurement and marketing of their agricultural products and handicrafts, financial assistance, facilitation of common services such as lending tractors, truck and warehouse, running shops particularly in remote areas and generating employment opportunities. Later these co-operative societies were duly registered under the different state co-operative act. One of the major problems faced by Tibetan cooperative societies was the marketing of handicrafts and agricultural produce. The need to bring all the co-operative societies functioning under one apex body in the form of federation was felt indispensable.
