Business Overview

With the establishment of Tibetan settlements, co-operative societies were simultaneously started in their respective settlements aim to attain the social and economic betterment of settlers. Co-operative societies function to support their members in agricultural activities like supplying of Agri inputs, procurement and marketing of their agricultural products and handicrafts, financial assistance, facilitation of common services such as lending tractors, truck and warehouse, running shops particularly in remote areas and generating employment opportunities, etc. Later these co-operative societies were duly registered under the different state co-operative act. "Federation of Tibetan Co-operatives in India Ltd" which is commonly known as Federation. The principle objective of federation is to promote the interest of its member co-operative to attain the social and economic betterment through self-help and mutual aid in accordance with co-operative principle. The Area of operation of the federation is confined to the States of Karnataka, Chhatisgarh, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Orissa, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and West Bengal.

Cooperative Objectives

1. To procure manufactured items of handicraft and related activities on agency basis or on outright basis from the member societies.

2. To provide the management development services like legal and technical guidelines, making model byelaws, helps in drafting policies, assist in preparation of development plan, undertake research and evaluation, arrangement of training and workshops, supply market intelligence to develop market in formation system, modern technology up gradation, etc to the member co-operative societies.

3. To arrange for the sale of manufactured items purchased from member societies, locally or through export, for the best advantage of the member societies.

4. To open branches, depots, warehouses, showrooms and factories to manage them and to close down if found not viable.

5. To act as an agent on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration.
