1. What are Co-operatives and what are their objectives?
Co-operative movement is more than 100 years old and has been successful in India and many countries globally. Co-operative is a form of an
organization in which members (ex. farmer, handloom weaver) with very limited resources can join together and collectively strive to achieve their
economic and social goals. The key underlying principles which drive the co-operative model are self-help, mutual-help and collective bargaining. T
There are many successful co-operative organizations that we come across every day. As economic enterprises and self-help organizations, they play a significant role in uplifting the socio-economic conditions of the members and the local community. They act as an extremely important means for the
integration of communities and their sustainable economic development.

2. What is the purpose and objectives of GoCoop Global Directory?
GoCoop.com is a global business collaboration platform for Co-operatives, their members, self-help groups and other micro, small and medium
enterprises. The platform provides various business services including GoCoop Co-operative Directory.
GoCoop co-op directory is exclusively for co-operatives with a vision to bring together all the co-operatives around the world irrespective of the
product they are dealing with, under one online directory.
The objectives of the GoCoop Co-operative directory include:
· Creating an identity and visibility to every co-operative organization. GoCoop global
co-operative directory promotes awareness about co-operative societies and their produce.
· To promote business of co-operatives by providing the co-operatives, buyers and sellers with
detail about co-operatives and their products. GoCoop Directory provides detailed classification of Co-operatives and their products and a powerful
search engine to aid in this objective
· Overall, to contribute to the socio-economic growth and development of the Co-operatives, their
members and the local community.
3. What are the criteria for being listed on the GoCoop Global Directory?
GoCoop Global Directory is an online listing of all co-operative societies’ world-wide irrespective of sector or products. To be listed on the
GoCoop Directory, Co-operative societies should be registered under Multiple State Society Act 1942 pertaining to India or any other relevant act of
respective countries and must possess a valid registration number allotted by appropriate authorities.
The society should be operational.
4. Is the directory restricted to Co-operatives or open for other organizations for listing?
The GoCoop Global Directory is exclusively meant for the co-operative societies.
Government organizations that are largely sourcing products from co-operative sectors & Self Help Groups (SHG’s) also come under the purview
of GoCoop Directory.
“Other Enterprises” and also individuals who are buying or selling goods from/to Cooperative societies can also register themselves on
GoCoop Directory as buyers and sellers respectively.
5. How does the listing on the GoCoop Global Directory benefit co-operatives?
The co-operatives which register for entry to the GoCoop Co-op Directory shall realize multiple benefits for themselves.
Firstly, they can spread awareness of their society and products on a worldwide basis. Every society shall get an instantaneous identity and visibility
by joining GoCoop online directory. Secondly, GoCoop online directory as a marketing platform aims to increase the market share of the co-operative
societies thereby increasing their sales and profits.
6. What are the details required for listing on the Directory?
Basic information like name of co-operative, registration number, date of establishment, address details, contact details, number of members are
required for registration on the Directory.
Logo of the Co-operative, pictures of the products and their details shall be an added advantage.

7. What is the process for registering on GoCoop Global Directory?
GoCoop enables co-operative societies to register themselves on GoCoop Global Directory in two ways:
a) Offline registration: Please download the registration form from the following link and mail-in your registration request to our company address as specified in the Contact Us section.

b) Online registration: Please complete the registration form by accessing the following link. Register Online
On receipt of the filled-in application in either of the two above methods, it shall undergo a verification process at GoCoop office after which the co-operative society shall be informed of the confirmation over e-mail/telephone.
8. Is GoCoop Co-operative Directory listing for a specific period or is it a perpetual listing?
It is a permanent registry which is perpetual. On a continuing basis, the directory shall have further new inclusions. The objective of GoCoop online
directory is to enlist every operating co-operative society.
Any society at any point of time can register on this directory. Societies, as and when they get incorporated can approach GoCoop for registration.
Co-operatives can update information about themselves as and when there are changes or possess information that has to be notified. This is need based.
9. What are the service charges for registering on GoCoop Co-op Directory?
GoCoop Global Directory is offered to co-operative societies as a free service. The co-operative societies can register themselves without paying for
it. GoCoop aims to provide other value-added business services to Co-operatives including the Global Marketplace which would have applicable
transaction or service charges.
10. Is the directory going to be available in English and also in other languages?
Initially the Directory will be in English. GoCoop plans to support other international and regional languages for the Directory in due
course.
